Girls just wanna have fun!
Zanna and Josephine always have a blast! Zanna taught Josephine how to use a Kaleidoscope (ka-ka-o-ope)...
Josephine taught Zanna how to create silly faces with magnets....
and they took turns checking each other's ears, eyes, and hearts out (maybe med school is in our futures! better start saving, Jenny and Sean, cuz Josephine is good with that stethoscope!)
and finally, the living room after a good playdate :) We love Josephine.
Lily and Alex Get hitched!
The morning after Zanna's debut as a flower girl, we drove to Enchanted Rock (near Fredericksburg) for Alex and Lily's wedding. Cam and Alex grew up together, lived next door to each other until middle school, and are life-long best friends. Cam was so honored to be asked to officiate at their wedding! They had the wedding at a pavilion at Enchanted Rock, a beautiful and intimate ceremony with just the bride and groom's families and us. Zanna, as you can see, loved having an outdoor wedding, and instead of paying attention to her dad, paid close attention to the dirt and sticks that were around. After the wedding, we headed into town to Hondo's for some amazing hamburgers, spicy fried jalapenos, and the first dance as the Simmons! we love you Alex and Lily, congratulations and best wishes!

Get-away weekend!
For Memorial Day, Cam and I went back to one of our favorite cities, Fort Worth, while Zanna got some Mimi-time.
We stayed in downtown Fort Worth, right across the street from the Water Gardens. Cam had never been there (how? I don't know!) and so we spent good time exploring.... We had the chance to go to Six Flags on Friday where we rode just about every rollercoaster and had an absolute blast, went to a Ranger's game (sat on the FRONT ROW!!!) and saw three homers in a row in the bottom of the 2nd inning (GO RANGERS!) and enjoyed the treat of a baseball-game hot dog and beer (how bud light and bad hot dogs can taste so good at a game, I will never understand:)). On Saturday, we were delighted to be close enough to Dallas to attend our great friend Jorge's engagement celebration to his fiance Susan. It was b eautiful and unfortunately my terrible pictures don't do it justice....Susan was in a gorgeous red dress, and their seating area was very majestic. It was a treat to be with some of our closest friends from college whom we don't get to see very often anymore. Somehow, we'd lived in Fort Worth for three months and never visited the stockyards, so we made up for that with some time in Billy Bob's playing pool, listening to a family country band play, and wandering around looking at longhorns and cowboys....with the addition of a trip to Joe T's, the trip was darn near perfect. It was so good for the two of us to be together as a couple, and though we missed Zanna, we don't think she missed us too much :) She and Mimi had a ball. We realized that the only time we'd been away from Zanna together for more than 1 night was for the confirmation retreats, and that doesn't count since we replaced responsibility for one toddler with responsibility for 10 teenagers :), so we enjoyed our get-away thoroughly and it will NOT be two more years before we have the next one!
